It is our perception that can change our current negative situation into a healthy & positive one. Another way of perceiving these feelings of frustration can be by looking at them as an opportunity to push ourselves to go that little extra mile until we achieve our objective. However, there are times when we all can go around in circles; and being in this space can be quite upsetting and lead to feelings of dissatisfaction, frustration and can even cloud our mind and judgment. Has there been further mris done? What has your doctor told you? Additionally are you taking up counseling to manage your behaviour, low concentration, confidence etc? Both line of treatment should run in parallel for overall results. Psychiatric meds do have side effects but they should not be stopped without consultation with your Dr. If you are finding improvements and your Dr. can confirm that then gradually the dosage can be reduced and subsequently stopped. But it is very important to go for counseling to be able to sustain the withdrawal symptoms that you might face once the medicines are stopped. Evaluate yourself as well how are you now as compared to 6 months ago or a year ago. See what positive changes have happened and what are your limitations. Are you able to lead a normal life and are your able to cope with whatever challenges you are facing in your life, or you need to turn to your medicines for support? A healthy lifestyle along with a healthy vibrant mind (brain) shall allow you to live a better life, so focus there. I am sure you shall be fine and better equipped if you follow the recommendation I gave.

Hi lybrate-user, your english was completely understandable. Your main concern is to reduce medicines. I understand that completely. The only thing to know is if you are comfortable when you don't take medicines. If yes, you can gradually stop. If not you may have to continue medicines. For that it is important to know what side effects you are facing due to medicines.

Postpartum depression is the condition you seem to have initially had. In few women it continues as persistent depression. Zaptra is a good medicine for the same, but the clonazepam part in it needs to be tapered and stopped first and then if you are emotionally well the paroxetine part can also be tried to be minimised and stopped. For this, you need to consult an astute psychiatrist. The tapering of medications can take few months. All the best.

Lybrate-user, Paroxetine is a newer antidepressant known as SSRI. The dose you are taking is also low. There are side effects to any medications and this is why it is important that the psychiatrist monitors you regularly for both symptoms of depression and side effects of medication. However medications are prescribed after taking the pros and cons into consideration and when the benefit of medications outweigh any risks they may have.
