Plenty of liquid like water, lemon juice, tender coconut, electral solution is required to control dehydration. Bland diet, soups, buttermilk etc is advised. Since symptomatic anti diorrhoeal tablet and probiotic has not helped, there may be intestinal mixed infection. Hence intestinal antibiotic and anti amoebic like norflox tz etc may be necessary. You should see your doctor for prescription and observation.

General Physician,
This mainly because of your sedentary lifestyle and bad food eating habits. So perform yoga daily and regular walking for 30 minutes to get relief from this. Medications are the second option but change your lifestyle first and eat healthy. Go for high fibre diet and eat fruits to relieve from it.

I am a 28 year old male suffering from acute loose motions for the last one week. I have been put on drips two days back. The doctor gave me a rl and then a normal 5 % dextrose with metronidazole and monocef. I am still having norflox tz and an ayurvedic tablet prescribed by my doc but after all of this I am still having loose motions. It's been like almost a week and I am sick and tired of visiting the washroom. Please help or give me a prognosis on what needs to be done.

I am suffering from loose motion for 3 days. 1st day I took 2 doses of norflox by myself - no improvement. 2nd day - medical shop gave orginyl-o, took it 2 times. 3rd day - went to phac - taken 2 doses of ciplox-500, but still no improvement. Loose motion usually lasts for a day, but mine is 3 days causing weakness. How long it takes ciplox-500 to work? Should I continue with it? Or should I consult another doctor.

Dr. B Nanda 92% (4355 ratings)
General Physician,
Only orginyl-o combination was the preferred medicine. The rest would not work. However, along with the medicine, ors should have been included. Also, it takes time for an infection to subside so a full course of the antibiotics is needed. Please send a stool sample for r/m and c/s test and start ors. Change diet to liquid, if tolerated, gradually take semisolid easily digestible foods. Ymost loose motions will be of a viral cause in which case, this much will be sufficient. If however, you do not feel better in a day, you can go back to the antibiotic after sending a sample. Hope this helps.
