Hello. I presume you are taking these tablets for heart disease? The combination seems to be quite okay, provided your blood pressure and other parameters are within normal range. If you are concerned, please do visit your doctor for further advice.

My mom age 51 years is suffering from diastolic dysfunction stage 2. Doctor gave her telmikind 40 mg in morning and amtas-AT 25 in evening for high bp. But after taking amtas she feels like vomiting and dizziness. Doctor then stopped amtas. But now after telmikind her bp is still 150/90. Now doctor suggest to take amlong 2.5 mg in evening along with telmikind in morning. I want to ask is it safe to take amlong 2.5 mg as she is suffering from diastolic dysfunction stage 2. Will it increase heartbeat? She is taking cordarone 300 mg. Should we start amlong 2.5 mg?

Hi Yes amlong (amlodepine) is good drug in diastolic dysfunction. The side effects like vomiting and dizziness maybe due to added AT in amtas combination which your mom took Try amlong and if she is still having prob then ask your doctor to give some diuretics for some time and use other BP medication to bring down BP to 120/80 range Then she will feel better.

Hypertension is a lifestyle disease which requires a lifestyle solution and never medicines. It just involves dietary changes and lifestyle changes which most probably has not been addressed in your case. Let me know the tests you have done so far and their results. Has your Dr. Excluded reversible causes of hypertension which is important You have to do some more specific lab tests which will tell you where you are heading Illness or wellness. You have to exclude other trigger factors for your rise in BP reduce salt, and stress, exercise loose weight are general guidelines A more detailed history is needed to pinpoint the cause of high bp in your case because causes vary from person to person and advice for controlling bp should be personalized and general advice will not work effectively. Send me a feedback through Lybrate. With your name, age and contact number and I will call you and then you can take a consult through Lybrate You have to treat the underlying cause and not the symptoms.

Its not that homeopathy does not have side effects. I'll suggest you should read a few reliable links before switching you medication to homeopathy. This is a extramely reliable data from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services National Institutes of Health https://nccih. Nih.gov/health/homeopathy Also you need to understand about High blood pressure in pregnancy Once you are pregnant, high blood pressure can cause problems for you and your unborn baby. You have had high blood pressure before you got pregnant. Some get it once they are pregnant - a condition called gestational hypertension. Either one can cause low birth weight or premature delivery of the baby. Controlling your blood pressure during pregnancy and getting regular prenatal care are important for the health of you and your baby. Treatments for high blood pressure in pregnancy may include close monitoring of the baby, lifestyle changes, and certain medicines which are safe in pregnancy like labetolol or nefidipine. (These are even safer than amlong) Some pregnant women with high blood pressure develop preeclampsia. It's a sudden increase in blood pressure after the 20th week of pregnancy. It can be life-threatening for both you and the unborn baby. There is no proven way to prevent it. Most women who have signs of preeclampsia are closely monitored to lessen or avoid complications. The only way to "cure" preeclampsia is to deliver the baby. So I'll strongly suggest you to discuss these aspects very thoroughly with both your gynecologist and your endocrinologist before taking any major step in medicines good luck.

Hi sir. Her diastolic is always below 80. Her systolic is variable ranging from 130 in the morning to 150 in the late evening. Il keep a check and let you know. Is azilsartan good? Heard its new in the market. Or telmisartan or losartan are better?

If diastolic is always below 80 and systolic rises to 150 on most of the evenings then recheck after 15 minutes of rest. If still above 140 then add Tab. Amlong 2.5 in the evening around 6 pm. As for your second question. All three drugs are almost same on action potency and lil different in side effects. So doesn't matter which one you take until your kidneys are fine.

This is for my mother who is 70 years of age. Sh is a known hypertensive since 2002 and has been on amlong 2.5mgm od, concor 5mgm bd, and minipress xl 2.5 MGM od. A few years ago some doctor put her on ecosprin 75mgm daily. Apart from that she takes calcium and multivitamin. Her bp used to always be 130 /70. But off late her bp was in the range of 140-150/76. So we consulted a physician and he made it concor with amlong 5/5mgm, and azilsartan 80 MGM once s day. With aspirin in the afternoon. Her bp is still 140-150/76. My question is is this the normal bp and I shouldn't worry about it ?ir is there some other medication that she should be on to bring the systolic to 130 range? And is aspirin actually required for her? Her echo shows concentric left ventricular hypertrophy and mild diastolic dysfunction. Her weight also is 76.8 and she hardly eats anything. Could it be due to salt retention from aspirin intake? Can I stop aspirin? Her platelets are 4.18 lakhs. Pls advice.

1) Aspirin (Ecosprin) does not cause high BP, it is given in this case for Heart attack prevention so please continue that 2) anti hypertensive medications needs to be adjusted periodically according to bP records and lab parameters for side effects. And usually not more than 2 or 3 drugs are needed. 3) you need to do these test for further assestment. KFT, ECG, STRESS ECHO, LIPID PROFILE. 4) Continue to take same BP medications but take them all early in the morning and measure BP twice daily and keep a record. 5) If Evening BP is more than 140/90 (Which is the upper limit for her age) you can give half or full tablet of amlong again in the evening according to BP. Many factors can affect blood pressure, including: 1) The amount of water and salt you have in your body 2) The condition of your kidneys, nervous system, or blood vessels 3) Your hormone levels You are more likely to be told your blood pressure is too high as you get older. This is because your blood vessels become stiffer as you age. When that happens, your blood pressure goes up. High blood pressure increases your chance of having a stroke, heart attack, heart failure, kidney disease, or early death. Get back to me with a detailed history and old / new records for a better individualized advice.

To know the whole things you have to understand basics of medical science. As of stopping medicine, pl do not think of it. Having been dependent on such drugs for three decades, you can't switch to other things suddenly and that too at this stage. When chemical diuretics are given (in HTN/ oedema/ renal problems etc), electrolyte depletion takes place as a side effect such as potassium depletion etc which is again supplied through potassium drugs. This vicious cycle goes in. Here Ayurveda is different. SLOW but natural. Diuretics are such that there would not be electrolyte imbalance/ depletion. But this doesn't mean that allopathy is bad. It has wonderful life saving developments to its credit. On the other hand Ayurveda's stress on lifestyle and natural medicine has wonderful results but its limited too esp in critical life conditions. Need is to respect both approaches where needed. It has to be understood by both ailing humanity and medical fraternity. I would suggest you to gradually supplement your mother's treatment with herbals for introducing little comfortable life ahead without compromising on medical facilities. If agree, pl consult with more details.
