About Itral 1% Eye Drops

Itraconazole is mainly used to treat fungal infections. It belongs to the drug group of azole antifungals. It helps to treat, control, prevent and improve various kinds of fungal infections by stopping the fungal growth in the body. It works by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol which is an important component of fungi cell membrane. Other than fungal infections, it can also be used to treat flaky discoloured patches on the chest and the back and to treat infections in the aids patients. It is highly advised to the patients who are suffering from any heart, kidney, liver or lung disease to inform the doctor about the same before being prescribed Itraconazole. Pregnant women or breastfeeding women are advised to avoid the use of it and if necessary, to consult the doctor. This drug should be taken only on the prescription of the doctor. Any use of antacids or acid blockers must be avoided for a minimum of two hours of taking Itraconazole as it may reduce the its efficiency. Since dizziness and blurred vision are one of the common side effects of this drug, it is advised to avoid driving or to engage in any work which involves concentration.

    • Histoplasmosis

      Itral 1% Eye Drops is used in the treatment of Histoplasmosis, a fungal infection that can affect the lungs and other parts of the body. The infection is caused by Histoplasma capsulatum.

    • Invasive Aspergillosis

      Itral 1% Eye Drops is used in the treatment of Invasive Aspergillosis which is a fungal infection caused by Aspergillus. The infection affects the lungs or the immune system.

    • Esophageal Candidiasis

      Itral 1% Eye Drops is used in the treatment of Esophageal Candidiasis which is a fungal infection caused by Candida. It affects the mouth or throat.

      Itral 1% Eye Drops is not recommended for use if you have a known allergy to this medicine.

    • QT Interval prolonging drugs

      Itral 1% Eye Drops is not recommended for co-administration with drugs that are known to cause specific changes in heart rhythm.

    • Congestive Heart Failure (Chf)

      Itral 1% Eye Drops is not recommended for the treatment of onychomycosis in patients with congestive heart failure (CHF) or a history of CHF.

    Itral 1% Eye Drops is an antifungal. It works by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol which is an important component of fungi cell membrane by inhibiting cytochrome P450-dependent 14α-demethylase enzyme, thus helps in inhibiting the growth of the organism.
