About Gamascab 1% Lotion

Gamascab 1% Lotion is used for treating lice and scabies. It comes as a topical lotion for the skin and shampoo for hair and scalp. Gamascab 1% Lotion is also used in agricultural insecticides. Also note that Gamascab 1% Lotion is used for treatment of these conditions and does not help in prevention.

Do not use Gamascab 1% Lotion on the skin; avoid taking it in mouth and protect it from getting in the eyes; if it gets in your eyes, wash them immediately with cold water, and seek medical attention if you have a persistent burning feeling. Do not use Gamascab 1% Lotion if you are allergic to any of the ingredients of the lotion or the shampoo. Also people who have a history of seizures or skin conditions should avoid using this medication.

The common side effects noticed with use of Gamascab 1% Lotion are burning sensations, itching, dryness, numbness or tingling of the skin and rash. Some side effects can be serious and you should seek immediate medical attention. These include dizziness, drowsiness, severe headache, seizures, shaking of your body that you cannot control.

Symptoms of overdose include vomiting, restlessness, ataxia, seizures, arrhythmias, pulmonary edema, hematuria, hepatitis. Absorbed through skin and mucous membranes and GI tract, has occasionally caused serious CNS, hepatic and renal toxicity when used excessively for prolonged periods, or when accidental ingestion has occurred.

If ingested, perform gastric lavage and general supportive measures; diazepam 0.01 mg/kg can be used to control seizures. Consult a doctor before using this medication if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, your weight is less than 50 kg, or if you drink a lot of alcohol.

For external use only. Do not apply to face and avoid getting in eyes. Do not apply immediately after hot soapy bath. Apply from neck to toes. Bathe to remove drug after 8-12 hours. Repeat in 7 days if lice or nits are still present.

Clothing and bedding must be washed in hot water or dry cleaned to kill nits. Wash combs and brushes with lindane shampoo and thoroughly rinse. May need to treat all members of household and all sexual contacts concurrently. Report if condition persists or infection occurs.
