This medication is a multidrug composition which belongs to Aminopenicillins and beta-lactamase. Thus it works via dual mechanisms. Firstly, it works by inhibiting the bacterial cell wall synthesis thus inhibiting the growth and multiplication of the bacteria. Secondly, Dicloxacillin is used in treating staphylococcal infections. The drug is mainly used against infections caused by bacteria that produce beta-lactamase. Bacterial cell wall synthesis in its third and last stage is inhibited when dicloxacillin binds to penicillin-binding proteins and autolysins mediate the process of cell lysis.
