Eardrum Rupture is a condition in which the ear drum is torn. Common causes of eardrum rupture are ear infection, very high sound or poking with a sharp object. Symptoms are:
• Sudden sharp pain or a sudden decrease in ear pain
• Bloody drainage from ear
• Partial or complete ear loss
• Episodic ear infection
• Facial weakness or dizziness
HOW IS EARDRUM RUPTURE DIAGNOSED?
The diagnosis is done on the basis of the symptoms that includes pathological tests, along with audiology tests, otoscope testing and other similar test methods that diagnose the same.
HOW IS EARDRUM RUPTURE TREATED?
An ENT or ear nose throat doctor would treat this issue. The doctor would give you medicines and ear drops to be put in the ears. Along with this, protective measures are suggested and in some extreme cases there may be a need for surgery.
