An orthopaedic would conduct a detailed interview regarding the back pain and when it first occurred to help find the cause of the pain. An x-ray, CT or MRI scan would be recommended to help make a diagnosis.

Besides medication, Lower Back Pain can be treated with physical therapy including stretching, strengthening exercises, and spinal manipulation. For a severe case of Lower Back Pain, surgery may be necessary.
