Elbow pain is common and usually caused by an injury or fall. It is pain and discomfort in the elbow that is not related to direct injury. Elbow pain can be caused by many problems. A common cause in adults is tendinitis. This is inflammation and injury to the tendons, which are soft tissues that attach muscle to bone.

Diagnosis of the same can be done by the general physician who touches and feels the area for swelling. Along with this x-ray and scanning may be suggested if risks of fracture is there.
HOW IS ELBOW PAIN TREATED?
If it is the pain that is caused by tendinitis, home care can help in treatment. Relaxing the elbow a little and then trying to move the elbow a little while increasing your range can help in easing off the pain. If that does not happen and if the pain tends to increase, medical intervention may be sought. Antibiotics, pain relievers may be given and surgery may be recommended in certain cases.
