Bags under the eyes/ puffy eyes may be caused by a variety of reasons including age, fluid retention, consumption of salty food, allergies, lack of sleep, stress. As we age, our skin loses its elasticity due to the loss or reduction of collagen production which provides support to the tissue and muscle supporting the eyelid. The skin then sags and the fat that is normally confined to the orbit moves down. Similarly, lack of sleep, stress and a work routine that demands constantly staring at a computer screen, can all lead to dark circles and bags under the eyes. This makes us look tired and less than appealing. Also, the space below your eyes can accumulate fluid, making the under-eye area appear puffy or swollen.
Treatment modalities include blepharoplasty and fat grafting. Also hydrate your body, drink as much water as possible. Yes, it seems counter-intuitive when you are retaining water, but hydrating reduces puffiness. So drink a glass of water whenever you notice your eyes getting a little droopy. As far as your dark circles are concerned, you can use vitamin E cream, chemical peels, zidd pulsed laser therapy etc. Consult a oculoplastic surgeon for the same.
