Mr. Lybrate-user, it is the blood which carries glucose to all the tissues and cells, so glucose has to be there in it. Our brain needs 5 grams of glucose every minute, so blood has to carry it there, otherwise how will it reach? all the tissues need glucose for producing energy, so blood ahs to carry it and supply. If not then a person feels week. That is what happens in hypoglycemia (low blood sugar level). If bllod sugar goes below 50 mg /100 ml, some persons will feel giddy and further lower levels will cause unconsciousness.

lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. Please let me know where did you get this information that sweet fruits or etra sugar does not increase blood glucose? In a normal person with presence of adequate insulin, extra glucose that comes in to blood is immediately removed from the blood, moved to muscles or various cells like tissue cells or liver. But is a diabetic person lack of insulin leads to abnnormal increase in blood glucose due to lack of insulin. When drugs are given to control high blood glucose, some drugs (sulphonylureas), insulin etc can rapidly reduce the blood glucose leading to hypoglycemia. In such a situation either glucose or sweets or sugar are given to rapidly incrase blood glucose. Low blood glucose (<50 mg/100 ml) is harmful to various tssues and brain. Thanks.
