There is more to dental and overall health than what meets the eye! there is a potential link between periodontitis (advanced gum disease) and systemic health problems as described in the image. So maintaining good oral hygiene is an important step in maintaining overall health.
The recommended oral hygiene routine that should be followed-
1) brush your teeth thoroughly twice a day.
2) clean between your teeth with floss or another type of interdental cleaner once a day.
3) also recommended using an antimicrobial mouth rinse as a part of your oral hygiene routine.
4) eat a balanced diet and limit snacks, which may reduce your risk of developing tooth decay and periodontal disease.
Apart from that-
Schedule regular dental checkups. Professional cleanings are the most effective in removing calculus (tartar), which traps plaque bacteria along the gum line. Don't neglect any signs or symptoms of tooth decay or food lodgement.
While at a dental clinic it's important to share your complete medical history with the dentist- like about changes in your overall health, particularly any recent illnesses or chronic conditions, including medication use both prescription and over-the-counter products. If you use tobacco, talk to the dentist about options for quitting. If you are pregnant or thinking about becoming pregnant, pay particular attention to your teeth and gums. That's because the changing hormone levels during pregnancy can exaggerate some dental problems.
