Omega 3 has tremendous benefits on the heart health. It works as anti - inflammatory. Several studies show that fish oil reduces triglyceride levels. Walnuts, rich in alpha linolenic acid or ala, can convert to omega-3s in the body thus lower total cholesterol and triglycerides in people with high cholesterol levels.
If you're taking a statin drug to lower your cholesterol, fish oil provides added heart benefits. A large japanese study showed 19% fewer heart-related events (like heart attack) in adults taking a fish oil supplement plus a statin drug, compared with those taking only a statin.
