Everyone wants to make positive changes to their lives once the New Year begins. But how many of us actually do it? Our biggest advice is to make small changes in your lifestyle instead of drastic ones that you will only follow for a few weeks. Start slow and be consistent. Here are a few changes that you can make to your lifestyle without fretting too much.

Drink more water - Our body requires around 3 litres of water daily. But it's easier said than done. Not all of us have a habit of drinking water at short intervals, especially during the winters. Make it a point to carry a bottle with you everywhere and sip from it regularly. You could also set reminders on your phone or download an app that helps you keep tabs on the amount of water that you drink daily. Fun fact - water also helps you lose weight and improves your skin.

Meditate - Meditating just for a few minutes a day can make a huge difference to your day. Meditation has been scientifically proven to reduce stress and anxiety, lengthen your attention span, fight addictions and stay mentally fit. Take out a few minutes every morning to meditate. You can start with 3-4 minutes and go up to 10 minutes in a few weeks.

Take up a physical activity - Take up that one sport that you have always wanted to and have not been able to. You do not have to do it every day, it could even be once a week. Activities like swimming, badminton, yoga, trekking, basketball and frisbee end up working out a number of muscles in our bodies.

Eat fruits instead of dessert - Satiate your sugar cravings with fruits. Fruits are rich in fibre which help you reduce your overall calorie content. Fruits contain a number of important nutrients such as potassium, fibre and folate.

Again, start small and keep working on your lifestyle. Make simple resolutions but ones that will last you an entire year.
