You must have heard that for good health, eating healthy and exercising are very important. True. But there is something else that is equally important. It is sound sleep. The fact that a deep and sound sleep helps your body to repair muscles and tissues, consolidate memory, strengthen the immune system and release hormones that control growth makes it equally essential for your health.

If you deprive yourself of quality sleep for long, then it can impact your overall health. Sometimes, it can compromise your immune system and even increase the risk of cancer, or lead to increase in blood sugar levels. Therefore, it is important for you to consider the factors that might influence the quality of your sleep.

Factors that influence your sleep

The most important factor that influences the quality of your sleep is the sleeping environment. The place where you sleep has an enormous impact on how well you sleep. Within the sleeping environment, there are two major things that affect your sleep:

Lighting

If you expose yourself to light while you are trying to sleep, then it can affect your body's internal "sleep clock" — a biological mechanism that regulates sleep-wake cycles — in ways that adversely affect both the quantity and quality of sleep.

Mattress

This is perhaps the most important factor that influences your sleep. Since it’s a mattress on which you lie and sleep, it directly affects the quality of your sleep. Hence, it is very important that you choose a mattress very carefully and wisely. If you sleep on a mattress that is not responsive and does not adapt to your body, then you will not be able to have a sound sleep as you will be disturbed every now and then.

How to choose a sleeping mattress

Purchasing a mattress is not an ordinary task. Since everybody is different, so are their requirements of a perfect sleeping mattress. There is no ‘one size fits all’ thing when it comes to mattresses.

However, there are certain things that are common when it comes to selecting one. When you buy a sleeping mattress, you should ask yourself:

  • Does the mattress offer adequate support?

  • Does it have a responsive surface?

  • Is it made from safe materials?

  • Will it be durable, or will it lose shape in sometime?

  • Can you return if it doesn’t suit you?

You can consider a mattress such as Flo mattress that comes with a proprietary responsive foam that responds accurately to the pressure exerted by your body. The mattress has a temperature sensitive memory foam that assists blood circulation and reduces tossing and turning by up to 80%. Flo mattress has 3D air flow spacer fabric along the periphery which promotes air circulation to ensure the mattress stays ventilated, and you sleep cool.

Flo mattresses come in two variants: Ergo and Ortho. Ergo is for people who prefer softer ergonomic support while Ortho is specifically meant for people who need extra back support and prefer harder orthopedic support. Ergo variant has a top layer of gel-infused memory foam and base layer of proprietary Flo Responsive foam. Ortho comes with top layer of high-resilience PU foam and base layer of Flo Responsive foam. Both the variants are reversible. This means you can use either side to sleep on, depending upon which suits you better. This makes the mattress, which comes with a free 100-night sleep trial and 10-year warranty, last much longer.

It is time you go for a mattress that gives you instant and sound sleep even before you know!
