This is due to the fact that if your body has enough of folic acid before conception, once you conceive the spinal and the brain growth of the baby will be unhindered. Folic acid is required in the first few days after conception as the baby's brain, neural and spinal tissues are the first things to develop.

If you have been using vaginal lubricants during sex, it is a good idea to stop using them. Vaginal lubricants can cause issues with the cervical mucus which is very necessary to ensure the survival of the sperm. It is important that you let the body take care of the natural processes and not use artificial lubricants as the chemicals from these products can stay in your system and be a hindrance for conception.
