Thus, cutting off the blood supply, which eventually dies and drops off. The tissue at the base of hemorrhoid heals with some scar tissue. Avoid taking aspirin and other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs for 4 to 5 days both before and after rubber band ligation to reduce the risk of bleeding.
Ointments, creams, and suppositories completely cure piles.

A bland soothing cream, ointment, or suppository may ease discomfort. However, they don t cure piles. Several brands are available without a prescription. Steroid-based creams may reduce the inflammation and the swelling around hemorrhoid, thus easing itch and pain. Creams that contain an anesthetic may relieve pain better but must be used for a short period. If used longer the anesthetic may irritate or sensitive the skin around the anal area. You should not normally use a steroid cream or ointment for longer than one week at a time. Ask a pharmacist or follow the instruction on the packet.

Hemorrhoidectomy is the traditional surgical piles treatment. It may involve cutting away hemorrhoid(s) in order to treat grade 3 or 4 piles or piles that have not been successfully dealt with by banding or other methods. The operation is usually successful and done under general anesthetic with the help of special equipment. However, the days following the surgery can be quite painful. It takes normally two weeks to recover following the surgery. One may use ice packs to ease the pain.
It is advised to avoid constipation and straining at the toilet to prevent piles.

Constipation worsens the symptoms due to the formation of hard stools. It is advised to take plenty of fiber-based fruits and vegetables and drinking at least 2 liters of water is also beneficial. One may take fiber supplements if high fiber diet is not helping. And go to the toilet as soon as feeling the need. Suppressing the feeling may result in hardened stools which would worsen the condition. You should also avoid spending long hours in the toilet.
