How do I know if I've got chlamydia?

A past history of chlamydia pushes the person all the more into the risk zone. In case of pregnancy, chlamydia passes on to the baby at birth. Another threat is that chlamydia spreads from one infected region to another. For example, if vagina is affected by chlamydia, it can spread to other areas as well. You should never have unprotected sex.

The only way to prevent chlamydia is to avoid unprotected sex. If you are sexually active, make sure that your partner is not affected by chlamydia. A long-term relationship, that too a mutually monogamous one can reduce the risk of chlamydia. Correct usage of latex condoms every time you have sex reduces the risk of chlamydia. In case of symptoms that show you might have chlamydia, do not involve in sexual activities any further and consult a doctor immediately. Proper use of quality protection while intercourse is vital.

Any person who is sexually active can be infected by chlamydia. In fact, the younger segments who are in their prime of sexual activity are more into the risk zone. People who have multiple sex partners be it men/women can be affected by chlamydia. This does not leave out pregnant women as well. Gay and bisexuals can also be affected by chlamydia. But proper treatment and medications can treat chlamydia. In case of doubt and existence of symptoms, both the parties involved are to be tested for chlamydia as soon as possible.
