Osteoporosis - Know More About It!

Age is the most pertinent cause of osteoporosis. Throughout people s lives, bodies break down old bones and grow new ones but when he or she is in her 30s, the process of bones break up gets faster than normal. Thus replacement of bones takes time. Certain medical conditions like hyperthyroidism can also be one of the causes of Osteoporosis. Intake of steroids through injections for a long period of time can let people develop a joint problem in the form of Osteoporosis.

The problem of Osteoporosis affects the vertebrae or the bones of the spine, thus leading to a stooping posture. Invariably that stooping posture leads to height loss.

For women aged around 45 to 55 years, menopause happens to be one of the primary reasons behind the occurrence of Osteoporosis. The reason is, hormonal change takes place at the time of menopause and that result in quick loss of bones.

Unfortunately, there is no cure for this problem of Osteoporosis. It can only be managed by changing one's lifestyle by increasing the intake of food items that result in increased calcium and Vitamin D into one's system. Other than this, doing exercises on a regular basis is a must.
