Brain Hemorrhage - Know More About It!

The word Hemorrhage comes from the Greek word Hemo which mean blood. Therefore, Hemorrhage means blood bursting forth. It is also known by several terms such as intracranial hemorrhage, cerebral hemorrhage, or intracerebral hemorrhages. Bleeding can occur in the following regions: Inside the brain In the space that lies between the brain and the brain membrane In between the layers of the brain membrane Or, in the space between the skull and the brain membrane

The swelling caused in the Brain Hemorrhage due to bleeding is called cerebral edema. The accumulated blood gets collected into a mass called hematoma. When the condition induces the pressure around the brain tissue, it reduces the significant blood flow and kills the cells of the brain.

There are many causes which lead to Brain Hemorrhage. Arteriovenous malformations are one among them. It is a kind of Blood vessel abnormalities. In this type of defect, the blood vessels get weak in the brain. The defect can be present at the time of birth and only diagnosed if the symptoms grow further.

As in most of the cases, brain hemorrhage is linked with certain risk factors. However, one can limit the risk by following certain preventive measures: According to studies, 80% of brain hemorrhage patients experienced high blood pressure in the past. So, if a person is suffering from high blood pressure, he/she needs to treat it and follow all the prescribed instruction. Quit Smoking Don t use drugs as it increases the chances of bleeding. Carefully drive following all the preventive measure. Wear a helmet while riding a motorcycle If you are suffering from any abnormalities like Hemophilia, sickle cell anemia, Aneurysm, Arteriovenous malformations, etc., he/she should be more careful about the fact that they are prone to brain hemorrhage.
