No two people have the same constitution. The three main body types or doshas according to Ayurveda are known as Vata, Pitta and Kapha. The three doshas are derived from the five elements- earth, fire, water, air and ether. Understanding your doshas can help recognise your natural strengths and weaknesses as determined by your constitution. Your doshas are said to be balanced when their current state is close to the state they were in at your birth. In such a situation, your health will be at its best. There are three states your doshas could be in; balanced, aggravated and depleted. Excess or reduced amounts of your predominant dosha can cause a number of health problems. The predominant causes of such imbalances include exposure to too much stress, dosha aggravating diet and accidents.

Vata minds are often very enthusiastic, creative, flexible, vibrant, mature, mentally disciplined and quick to learn. On the flip side, they may have very poor memory retention abilities. People with a predominant Vata dosha find teaching and counseling ideal career choices. They are happiest when surrounded by nature and are very sensitive to sounds. The Vata mind can be restless at times and is always on alert but thrives when they have a constant routine. Many Vata type people are extremely sensitive and can be attuned to subtle spiritual energies.
