Ayurveda to Improve Vision

The types of food that are contra-indicated for improving vision are fried, sour and pungent foods like pickles, curd, spices etc. You should also avoid foods that cause cold and cough. Cow s ghee is considered very useful for improving vision. Apart from food, you should take care of your lifestyle too to improve vision. Reading lying down is not a good practice and so is watching TV from a short distance. Avoid using devices like tablets, mobile phones and laptops for long and avoid reading, writing and studying at night to avoid eye strain.

The Ayurvedic name for defective eyesight is Drishti Dosha and Alochaka Pitta is responsible for maintaining eyesight. This dosha weakens with age and Ayurveda suggests taking proper care of your eyes to prevent degeneration of eyesight. Drink 20 ml fresh amla juice twice a day and rub the soles of your feet with mustard oil or ghee regularly at night to improve vision. And use freshly extracted rose petal juice for both internal and external purposes.

Improper evacuation can upset the balance of doshas in the body and can cause weakening of vision. Triphala powder is excellent for getting rid of chronic constipation. Add a teaspoonful of triphala powder to a tumbler of water. Keep overnight. Strain the water and use the clear water obtained to splash on your eyes and also to drink. After 15 days or so, your constipation will be a thing of the past.

According to Ayurveda, our eyesight is the product of agni dosha or fire. Therefore, it is particularly important to save the eyes from phlegm and phlegm accumulates in the body due to chronic cold. Nervous debility also affects the agni in the body, affecting vision. Drink 20 ml fresh amla juice twice a day, and eat your fill of vitamin A-rich mangoes in summer to relieve eye strain. If your vision is failing, eat a mixture of pepper powder and honey. You could also mix about 1 tsp licorice powder in cow's milk or honey or ghee.
