While TV and mass media or even family and friends may lower your self-esteem, comparing your life to your peers on social media may actually make you feel more worthless about yourself. Your peers may try to show off a perfect life which doesn t exist in reality and you may inadvertently end up comparing your life with theirs as being dull. Get off social media and know that it isn t the real world and is mostly make believe.

One of the major reasons behind sexual shyness is the lack of trust in surroundings. If you are constantly shy or unconfident in bed even if you are in a monogamous relationship and feel comfortable with your partner, it could be because of the surroundings. If you are uncomfortable at someone s place, try and be intimate with them at your place or select a neutral surrounding where you can be more comfortable.

One of the major causes for sexual shyness among women is the lack of a positive body image. Women often times avoid intimacy as the media and most beauty magazines have an approach of body shaming and anything less than a perceived ideal is considered unattractive. This is a false as your partner doesn t care about your imperfections if you don t care about theirs. If they are attracted to you, they will be attracted to your body as well. So you should work towards and positively try to let go off your inhibitions.

If you are sexually shy, the best way to get over it is to build it in your mind to a point where you absolutely want to have it with your significant other and then won t mind the inhibitions. You should build it up in your head before you engage in sex. In fact, spend the day teasing each other or talking dirty or sending dirty text messages to build up the anticipation.
