My relative was highly indulged in chewing tobacco and liquor consumption. Now he is diagnosed with lungs cancer fourth stage. Post biopsy his condition is getting even critical. He is not able to breathe without oxygen mask. Doctors say this is because of biopsy post effects. Please advice how long can he survive. Doctors say he is not strong enough to bear chemotherapy. Is he very critical.

Usually lung cancer fourth stage is very critical and such patients have a very poor survival rate. But still you need to tell me about the type of lung cancer, prognosis depends on that. We might suggest him a low dose chemo. But in all conditions his outcome won't be very great.

My father was diagnosed with covid on 29 april. He had fever for first few days and later he had cough which led to his oxygen to drop below 85. He is in hospital right now on oxygen but shows no covid symptoms. He does not have any previous medical problem. He eats right, does’t drink or smoke. He has been on oxygen since last 10 days. His oxygen has not been improving since. He gets around 90-94 oxygen when he is on oxygen mask but when he removes his oxygen mask it drops to 86-89. What should he do to improve this? Doctors tell us to wait for few more days as it takes time to oxygen level to rise but its already been 16 days. I’m really worried now. Please help us. Thank you.

Hello lybrate-user ji as your father is admitted in the hospital, he must be getting all the required treatment, you don't need to worry about it. Yes some people do take time to respond to oxygen therapy, but with oxygen his saturation is remaining stable around 92-24 then you don't have to worry. Take care.

My dad has suffered from covid 15 days prior and now due to low oxygen he is on ventilator from past 8 days and rest of his organs are perfect no bp no sugar and his oxygen rate is 95 which is being given from oxygen mask .please suggest me how many days he will take to recover and how much days he need to be on ventilator.

I am 65 year old and have oxygen less than 80%. Both my lungs are damaged, only one lung functions around 25 to 30%. What medication and remedy is advisable to recoup the lungs for normal breathing. I Have to be always on Oxygen mask. Any small walk to bathroom also leads to heavy breathing problems.
