Trigeminal Neuralgia: In this condition there is sharp, shooting pain around trigeminal nerve. It can involve upper or lower part of face depending on division of nerve involved. This may not occur just at night time. It can occur in any part of day. It can be easily treated by medicines or Radiofrequency ablation of Gasserian ganglion. There can be other causes of one sided facial pain like: 1. Idiopathic facial pain 2. Cluster headache 3. Migraine. 4. Dental pain Details of pain character and pattern of occurrence are needed to reach a diagnosis. Do not worry as any of above condition can be easily managed with medication and /or intervention. For detailed evaluation consult a pain specialist.

I am a 26 year old male. I kept having headache on the right side of my head only, precisely around my right eye on the eyebrow and till the temple and below the eye. It starts and end on its own. Is it migraine? I also had a nasal deviation which was rectified by a surgery but of late my nose has again started inclining towards one direction. Could this also be a reason?

Further details of your problem is needed to give you a provisional diagnosis. Probabilities are. 1. Trigeminal Neuralgia : In this condition there is sharp , shooting pain around trigeminal nerve divisions. The pain follows stricthe dermatome pattern as in your case. It could be Trigeminal Neuralgia involving Ophthalmic division of Trigeminal nerve. It can be easily treated by medicines or Radiofrequency ablation of Gasserian ganglion. 2. Migraine: Headache in migraine is unilateral but it fluctuates on any side. There must be associated nausea / vomiting and photophobia /phonophobia. 3. Pain due to deviated nasal septum can be a cause but it is not so typically along dermatome. I would suggest you to consult a Pain specialist for diagnosis and treatment.
