Bro-Zedex is an agent that causes diffusion of thick mucus. Uncontrolled quantity of nitric oxide (NO) is related to inflammation and other kinds of disruptions of the functioning of the airways. This medication inhibits the activation of guanylate cyclase which is nitric oxide dependent. It also works as an expectorant which reduces adhesiveness and surface tension of congealed mucous in the upper respiratory tract to increase the flow of mucous, stimulating and increasing efficiency of the cilia to remove the accumulated mucous. Lastly, it works as a β2 adrenergic receptor that results in an increase of cyclic AMP. Increased AMP leads to activation of protein kinase A which again prevents phosphorylation of myosin.
