Red Eyes is a medical condition in which the eyes are red and swollen in most cases. Red eyes are usually due to an allergy or eye fatigue. Red eyes are also caused due to lack of sleep or overuse of eyes. Symptoms are:
• Reddish eyes
• Swelling of eyes
• Feeling the presence of dust in eyes
• Pain or irritation in eyes
• Sensitivity to light
• Irritation while wearing contact lenses

Diagnosis is done by physical examination of the eyes.
HOW IS RED EYES TREATED?
Treatment varies as per the underlying cause of the red eyes. If red eyes is due to allergies or environmental irritants, than oral antihistamines or over-the-counter eye drops are helpful.Putting an ice pack on the eyes relieves symptoms like swelling and pain.
