About Oxymet Paediatric Nasal Drops

Oxymet Paediatric Nasal Drops is used to treat any blockage of the nasal tract caused due to sinus infections, hay fever, and other allergic reactions in the upper respiratory tract like the common cold. It is meant either to be administered orally or for topical application, and comes in the form of nasal drops, nasal sprays, tablets, and syrups. The drug belongs to a class of medicines known as decongestants. It functions by constricting the blood vessels, resulting in the shrinking of congested and swollen nasal tissues. This leads to relief from congestion, improved breathing through the nose and better drainage of mucus. Nasal drops and nasal sprays have been found to act faster on the affected region than tablets and syrups.

You are strongly advised against using this medication if you are allergic to any of its components and/or if you are taking any other medicine containing an inhibitor of monoamine oxidase, or furazolidone. Do not take more than 2 doses every 24 hours. Every dose may consist of 2 to 3 sprays. You are advised to avoid using this medicine if you are a pregnant or a lactating woman. This drug could possibly cause high blood pressure and increased heartbeat.
