About Ovuloc Ld Tablet

Desogestrel is a synthetic progestin used as an oral contraceptive and its main function is the prevention of pregnancy. It is a birth control drug and is used alone as a progesterone-only contraceptive, known as “mini-pills” or in combination with ethinylestradiol in combined oral contraceptives.

The medication should be taken as per the directions given by the doctor. It is meant for oral consumption and can be taken with or without food. If you have a stomach problem it is best that you take this medication along with a meal to prevent any kind of discomfort. To ensure that the drug is effective to make sure you do not miss a dose.

    How does this medication work?

    This medication is a semisynthetic estrogen which enters the cells and binds to the estrogen receptors and forms a complex that enters the cell nucleus and bind to the DNA. It activates the DNA transcription of genes that are involved in estrogenic cellular responses. The other active constituent present in the medication Desogestrel, which is a progestin medication that is commonly found in birth control pills. This drug enters the cell passively and binds to the progesterone receptors found in the nucleus.

Conditions like endometrial hyperplasia should be ruled out before starting the therapy with Ovuloc Ld Tablet.

        Estrogen-dependent tumor

        This medicine is not recommended for use in patients having a tumor caused due to abnormal levels of estrogen in the body. The tumor may be of the endometrium or the breasts. Suitable diagnostic tests should be performed before starting treatment with this medication.

        Hypertension

        This medicine should be used with extreme caution in patients having high blood pressure. The risk of adverse effects on the heart and blood vessels are extremely high in such cases. Suitable dose adjustment and safety monitoring is a must in such cases.

        Heart and blood vessel disorder

        Use of this medicine is not recommended for use in patients who have had or are currently having a disease of the heart and blood vessels. Your doctor may determine the best course of treatment after assessing the severity of the condition.

        Hepatic neoplasm

        Use of this medicine is not recommended if the patient has cancer of the liver is suspected of having it. Your doctor may decide the best course of treatment after assessing the condition.
