Mr. Lybrate-user, when on insulin some times hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) develops. That may cause some of the symptoms mentioned. If you are doing self monitoring of blood glucose (smbg), at home then you should check the glucose level when you feel such symptoms and see if there really a low level (<70 mg or lower). If it is so, then dosage of insulin may have to be adjusted. To give exact suggestions I need to now your fasting, pp sugar levels, insulin dosage and hba1c%. Then only I will be...more

Mr. Lybrate-user, diabetes mellitus most often does not produce any symptoms, hence many persons fail to detect that they have t2 diabetes. When fully developed it may cause excess urination, excess thirst, excess thirst, excess hunger, unexplained weight loss and tiredness. In type 1 diabetes insulin injection is the only treatment, plus it is required for survival of t1 dm patient. Actrapid is a fast acting insulin, its action begins within 30 minutes of administration. Human regular insulin t...more

Mr. Lybrate-user, excess use of cough syrups containing codeine for long time is not good. Codeine can lead to addiction, both physical and mental. Plus causes constipation. According to the company's own list of side-effects list it can cause cns depression, lassitude, drowsiness, loss of appetite, dizziness, blurring of vision, tightness in chest, hypertension etc. So such preparations should be used sparingly only for a very short duration. Thanks.

You might be having rebound hyperglycaemia in your fasting sample, because with 25 units of actrapid your post meal level is 145 only meaning insulin is effectively controlling it. Possibly after the evening dose of insulin and a longer interval between dinner and lunch, by the early hours of morning your blood sugar might be going below normal without your knowledge while you are asleep. At this the internal mechanisms of body release anti insulin hormones and the morning blood sugar in fasti...more

Mr. Lybrate-user, looking at the sugar levels, it is clear that insulin dosage is not adequate. There needs a better titration of insulin dosage. If need be a new drug can be added like sglt - 2 inhibitor. According to me first concentrate on fasting glucose level, keep a target value of 110 mg. If level is much higher, then increase the night time insulin by 2 units every 3 rd day, till the target level is achieved. Then target post lunch level, and titrate insulin dosage similarly. Plus can lo...more

In ayurveda its called kashtsaadhya. You have to continue taking medicine to manage levels of sugar. The only difference between ayurvedic herbs and allopathic is that with former you will not get any side effects like neuropathy, retinopathy etc and if acquired already, it will start receding in 6-8 weeks.
But you can't stop allopathy atonce. May gradually increase herbals and reduce allopathic. Initially parallels will have to be taken. Constant monitoring will educate you at what level ba...more
