About Astaxanthin

Known to be a highly beneficial anti-oxidant, Astaxanthin helps reduce free radicals present in the body. The drug is naturally derived from plants and has a reddish tinge to it. It is highly beneficial for the eyes and skin. It helps improve eye health and increases the quality of your skin. It improves moisture levels in the skin, makes it more elastic and reduces wrinkles and acne. It also improves the immune system and heart health. Moreover, the drug helps in treating symptoms of Parkinson’s disease as well as Alzheimer’s disease.

Generally about 4 mg to 40 mg may be prescribed to be taken daily. The time period of the course depends from individual to individual and their overall health. The course may extend to a period of 12 weeks or in some cases even a year. It is safe to take Astaxanthin along with other minerals as well as vitamins.

It has yet not been discovered whether Astaxanthin is safe for women who are pregnant or nursing. Thus, to avoid any complications Astaxanthin should be avoid during the 9 months of pregnancy and even afterwards.
