STD Sexually Transmitted Disease Profile Premium is a detailed combination of STD blood and urine tests, screening for Chlamydia, genital herpes, gonorrhea, hepatitis and syphilis. This screening is vital if the patient is concerned about having or spreading the STD. If the patient has HIV or is a male and has had sex with other men or if you are a man or woman who has had unprotected sex with multiple partners. All these behaviors risk of acquiring one or more forms of sexually transmitted disease. If the patient is a woman and has just delivered a baby and is diagnosed with any of the STDs, it is recommended to get the child tested as well as it can be fatal for the infant.

As it includes blood as well as urine test, the patient should keep in mind the following: Inform the doctor if they are undergoing any other medications. Inform if they have any worth noticing and keeping in mind disease, allergy or complications. The patient is requested to wear sleeveless shirt/top for as blood sample can be collected easily. The patient should make sure to have consumed enough water and should not urinate for 2 hours prior sample collection.

This test is performed to check if the patient is diagnosed by any Sexually transmitted disease. Chlamydia tests check if Chlamydia bacteria are present and causing infection. The patient is normal if no Chlamydia antigens or DNA are found. Gonorrhea tests tell if a person has the disease. They look for bacteria, or germ, that causes gonorrhea. If no gonorrhea bacterium is found after performing the test the patient is absolutely fine. The herpes simplex blood test detects IgG antibodies in the sample. If type-1 antibodies are detected then it confirms that the patient has oral infection, type-2 antibodies detection indicates genital herpes. Syphilis tests are used to screen for and/or diagnose infection with treponema pallidum, the bacterium that causes syphilis. The test checks if the blood contains antibodies of this bacteria if not present the patient is safe. Hepatitis A, B and C check if the blood sample contains Hepatitis A Virus Antibody (HAV); IgM, Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) Surface Antigen and Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) Antibody respectively. If any of the mentioned antibody is detected the patient is diagnosed with that particular hepatitis.

The STD Profile Test is a comprehensive screening. It consists of: Urine tests for: Chlamydia Gonorrhea Collect the first part of your urine stream, immediately as you begin urinating. Don’t wipe the genital area clean before urinating. The sample is collected in a plastic container provided by them. Nucleic acid amplification testing aka NAAT (such as PCR testing) is carried out on the urine sample. Blood tests for: Herpes simplex virus 1 & 2, IgG Syphilis Hepatitis A, B and C About 5-10 milliliters of blood is collected from the patient. An alcohol pad is rubbed against the patient’s skin where a vein is quite visible. The blood is drawn out from the rinsed area with the help of an injection. The blood sample is collected in a tube and sent to the lab for examination.
