Allergen, Individual-Food Cumin Test

Allergen, Individual-Food Cumin Test

also known as: Allergy Cumin Enzyme Assay

A cumin allergy is an adverse reaction by the body's immune system to cumin or food containing cumin. This type of allergy is rare and are generally not serious. The body's immune system produces immunoglobulin E and histamine in response to contact with the allergen. The symptoms of allergy include swelling in the mouth, running nose, watery eyes, vomiting, breathing trouble, a sudden drop in blood pressure, diarrhea and etc. One of the best ways to prevent cumin allergy symptoms is to avoid it. Skin prick test or blood test can be used by the doctors in order to confirm the allergy.

A physician or other healthcare professional and an emergency equipment should be immediately available when such tests are performed. So find a well-equipped and reliable diagnostic center. Have your food as you like. You need not fast before the test. One must not stop taking medicines without the prior consultation of the doctor because such thing can affect the fairness of the result. Always follow the particular instructions given to you by the lab instructor.

If a wheal like structured white bump raises surrounded by a small circle of itchy red skin or rash then you may be allergic to cumin. If no wheal appears, it is unlikely that you are allergic to food containing cumin. In a blood test, a positive result means that you may be allergic to a particular substance. But however, they are also not always accurate. Test results sometimes indicate that they are positive even though you are not really allergic to the food (cumin). Negative results always mean that you are not allergic to a food. Often they can be false negatives i.e. results indicate that you are not allergic to a food, even though you really are.

The doctor or health care professional will ask you take any of the following tests In a skin test, using a small plastic probe or needle the doctor will gently prick or scratches the skin and inject a tiny amount of allergen to enter just below the surface. It’s non-invasive, just a small fingernail like scratch on the surface of the skin. If you're allergic, a rash develops. Results usually appear within 30 minutes. In a blood test, a sample is tested for the presence of antibodies, your body's reaction to an allergen.
