Brain injury is an injury occurring to the brain of any living organism. Brain injuries can be traumatic or diffuse axonal injury. A traumatic brain injury causes dysfunction of the brain, while a diffuse axonal injury is caused when the unmoving brain lags behind skull movement. Common symptoms are:
• Loss of consciousness for a few seconds to minutes
• Vomiting or nausea
• Sleeping more than usual
• Loss of balance
Other sensory and cognitive symptoms may also be present

A general physician or a specialist from the neurology department can diagnose the issue with brain scans or a 15 point test called the Glasgow Coma Scale which can help in measuring the severity of the injury.
HOW IS BRAIN INJURY TREATED?
The treatments include:
1 Immediate emergency care
2. Medications - Diuretics, anti seizure drugs, coma inducing drugs
4 Rehabilitation - psychiatric therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy etc
