Ornithine

Prescription vs OTC : Prescription by Doctor required

About Ornithine

Ornithine is an amino acid which is often used to improve an individual’s athletic performance, to enable faster healing of wounds, and to reduce the chances of glutamine poisoning in the event of a brain condition due to a problem with your liver (hepatic encephalopathy). It may help patients who have difficulty in sleeping. It is administered orally, and is available in the form of capsules.

While there are no known side effects of using Ornithine, you are advised to consult with your doctor before you begin taking this supplement. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, it is safest to avoid using this medicine unless your healthcare provider has prescribed it for you. Make sure that you tell your doctor about any other medication that you may be using, and any allergies and / or health conditions that you may have.

The appropriate dose of Ornithine may vary according to your age, health conditions, gender and other factors. Since Ornithine is also produced in your body, too much of it could be potentially damaging to your health. Ensure that you follow the dosage instructions given by your physician or pharmacist or healthcare provider when you use this medicine. Avoid overdosing.
