Clavulanic Acid

Prescription vs OTC : Prescription by Doctor required

About Clavulanic Acid

Clavulanic Acid helps in the treatment of bacterial infections. You must take clavulanic acid-containing antibiotics along with food and with plenty of fluids. Tak medical help if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to Clavulanic Acid, penicillin, or any of the other ingredients of this drug.

Clavulanic Acid is usually prescribed in combination with either amoxycillin or ticarcillin, thus prevents the development of resistance against the drug and also enhances the therapeutic antibacterial effect of the co-administered drug.

If you are suffering from liver or kidney problems then do not consume this medication. Do not take the drug without consulting your doctor, if you have any serious allergic reaction (skin rash, inflammation of blood vessels, fever, joint pain, swollen glands in the neck, armpit or groin, swelling of face or mouth [angioedema], difficulty breathing, or collapse).

This drug must be administered to the individuals who have been confirmed or are highly likely to be bacterial susceptible. Do not take Clavulanic Acid, if you have had penicillin-associated jaundice or skin rash, kidney, or liver dysfunction.
