ড্রোটিন কার্যকরভাবে পেট এবং হৃতপিন্ডে‌র মধ্যে থাকা মসৃণ পেশীগুলির কুঁচকানো বা খিঁচুনিকে কার্যকরভাবে দমন করে। ইরিটেবল বাওয়েল সিন্ড্রোম, মাথা ব্যথা, মাসিকের ব্যথা এবং গর্ভধারণ করার সময় জরায়ুর কোষে ব্যথা থেকে মুক্তি পেতে এটি অত্যন্ত কার্যকর। ওষুধটি পেটে ব্যথা, বুকের ব্যথা, কিডনিতে পিত্তথলির ব্যথা, রেনাল কোলিকের ব্যথা এবং অন্যান্য অবস্থার জন্যও কার্যকর।

এই ওষুধটি ব্যবহারের ক্ষেত্রে যে সম্ভাব্য পার্শ্ব প্রতিক্রিয়া দেখা দিতে পারে সেগুলি হল বমি বমি ভাব, বমিভাব, অজ্ঞান, শুষ্ক মুখ, ঘুমের ব্যাধি, কোষ্ঠকাঠিন্য, ফ্লাশিং, এলার্জিজনিত ডার্মাটাইটিস, মুখ, ঠোঁট, চোখের পাতা, জিহ্বা, হাত ও পা ফোলা, রক্তচাপ পড়ে যাওয়া এবং নাড়ি হারের পরিবর্তন।

গুরুতর হার্ট, লিভার এবং কিডনিজনিত রোগীদের ক্ষেত্রে এই ওষুধটি সুপারিশ করা হয় না। এই ওষুধটি ত্বক এবং রক্তের জিনগত ব্যাধি দ্বারা আক্রান্ত রোগীদের সতর্কতার সাথে ব্যবহার করা উচিত। যাদের এলার্জি প্রতিক্রিয়া রয়েছে, যেসব মহিলারা গর্ভবতী বা শিশুকে বুকের দুধ খাওয়াচ্ছেন তাদেরও এই ওষুধ এড়িয়ে যাওয়ার পরামর্শ দেওয়া হয়। এই ওষুধটি অ্যাট্রোপিন, ডাইক্লোফেন্যাক, লেভোডোপা এবং ডায়াজেপামের মতো কয়েকটি অন্যান্য ওষুধের সাথে যোগাযোগ করতে পারে। এই ওষুধের কোর্স শুরু করার আগে, অন্য কোনও ওষুধ সেবন সম্পর্কে আপনার ডাক্তারকে অবহিত করুন।
