When the portions of the ear that are responsible for transmitting the sound to the nerves are affected, it is referred to as conductive hearing loss. Conditions affecting the cochlea, eighth cranial nerve, spinal cord, or brain cause sensorineural hearing loss. Let's have a detailed discussion to ensure proper treatment.

Radiologists always advice to remove all the electronic prosthesis, ornaments and metals for proper imaging. Coming to the point the MRI machine while on work can generate upto 110 decibel noise, which is high and can damage the hearing. Now a days sofisticated silent scanner systems are used in some places, better to go for that. As she was using the hearing aid let her continue the same, if it's a programmable hearing aid and covers the range it can be reporogrammed according to the new loss level.

If you are able to hear well with hearing aid be happy. No chances of improvement in case of neural deafness (due to fever).

Hello ma'am, as you mentioned in this it called as a congenital hearing loss. Mostly this caused of any pre or perinatal complication, due to any syndrome or related to diff cause. Hearing loss in such cases are mostly very severe category where sometimes only residual hearing is remaining. As a rehabilitation point of view we as a audiologist mostly focus on early intervention, so if child is less than 3 years then it required to go for cochlear implant or hearing aid fitting. In congenital case age will be play a most imp role bcoz under 5years only child will be able to understand language & their complication. After 5years it difficult to make there language age appropriate bcoz it obvious when child heard something then only they will learn language & communicate with others. For older child with congenital hearing loss then acco to the degree of loss treatment is vary but as I mentioned earlier they've severe category of loss so as a rehabilitation point of view sign lang or other manual communication help them. To detect such child as early as possible try to arrange oae& abr screening at nicu by audiologist. Thanks.
