ORS Orange plus is a WHO based ORS (Oral Rehydration Salt) formula. Oral redyration salt is a combination of Dextrose and a number of essential electrolytes (Sodium Chloride, Potassium Chloride, Sodium Citrate). ORS restores body fluids & electrolytes, lost due to dehydration in during Diarrhea, vomiting, muscle cramping, and exertional heat illness, while exercising in hot or humid weather.

Role of key ingredients:
Sodium Chloride (NaCl)
Sodium Chloride are essential in boldy to make fluid balance. Sodium chloride is utilized by body cells for its normal function.

Potassium Chloride (KCl)
Potassium is an extremely important electrolyte that functions in the maintenance of water balance and distribution, acid-base balance, muscle and nerve cell function, heart function, kidney and adrenal function.

Dextrose Anhydrous
Dextrose anhydrous is the purest form of dextrose, commonly called glucose. Dextrose anhydrous provides instant energy. It is the primary ingredient in oral rehydration salts (ORS).

Trisodium Citrate dihydrate
Trisodium citrate dihydrate is a tribasic salt of citric acid. It is produced by complete neutralization of citric acid with high purity sodium source and subsequent crystallization.

Directions for use:
1. Dissolve the contents of the packet in the amount of drinking water indicated on the packet, usually 1 litre.
2. If drinking water is not available, or if you are not sure the water is drinkable, boil the water for at least 10 minutes and then let cool.
3. Stir well, and give to the child to drink in a cup or spoon feed.

Note: Be careful to mix the right amount of water. If you use too little water, the drink could make the diarrhoea worse.

From where you got to know that orange brings vaginal infection, it has got lot of vit c which enhance auto immunity against infection. So eat oranges without worry.

As long as the baby is active, do not worry. Give him water, tender coconut water, juice without adding sugar. Give home lots of water containing vegetables. Growing children need adequate protein. Make sure you give lentils, egg, nuts, milk to meet the requirements. Give fish if he likes. Give ragi porridge everyday. Add pure ghee to his diet.

There is no clear proof that excessive eating of papaya change the colour of stool like orange. There are some other fruits like berries which might change stool colour If you consume excess beta-carotene from supplements or produce, such as carrots, sweet potato, squash, some leafy greens, and some herbs, then your stool can appear orange. Yellow/Pale Brown/Grey: Bright yellow diarrhea can signify a condition known as Giardiasis.

Hello, Thanks for your query on Lybrate "As" per your clinical history is concerned please follow like this - 1)Do check his stool now and add following medications - a)[AB-CEF SYR ]-to control infection [8 mg/kg daily as a single dose] b)[CALPOL DPS oral drops] one ML every 8 hours for fever c)BIO-LYTE ORS powder for oral soln to prevent dehydration You can add [Glucon D]if he likes and continues to breastfeed Do follow preventive step like this - Wash your hands before and after preparing food. In addition, wash your hands after handling uncooked meat, using the toilet, changing diapers, sneezing, coughing and blowing your nose. Use hand sanitizer when washing isn't possible. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer when you can't get to a sink. Apply the hand sanitizer as you would hand lotion, making sure to completely cover the fronts and backs of both hands. Use a product that contains at least 60 percent alcohol. Hope that helps

Dear lybrate user, *light, easy to digest food articles such as liquid rice, porridge are recommended. Soups made from lentils are also good in diarrhoea. Fruits like sweet lime, oranges, melons are allowed. *heavy, spicy, fried food is prohibited. Non-veg items, eggs are also not allowed. Sugarcane juice is also forbidden. *water is adviced to be boiled before drinking. *take 1-2 teaspoons of the pulp of a ripe bael fruit with water twice a day. It is very effective in relieving dysentery. *take a glassful of buttermilk with a pinch each of rock salt, black pepper, and roasted cumin seed powder twice daily with breakfast and lunch.
