If the tooth is filled with silver and having swelling at root base than the filling is to be removed and rct will be done for exposed tooth. If the infection is in gum in that case deep cleaning and dressing of pocket may be sufficient this can be ascertained after taking an x ray and than further treatment can be planned.

Hi Mr. lybrate-user.To get the crowns placed on your teeth a dental evaluation is extremely important wherein your dentist will examine and evaluate the condition of the teeth that are to receive the crowns. They might require a Root Canal Treatment before placing the crowns there. Silver fillings are no longer practiced in dentistry and are discouraged. Usually we prefer dental composite for tooth fillings (Advantage of this material is that its tooth coloured, so gets easily camouflaged. Esthetic and strong fillings) For getting the teeth cleaned a round of oral prophylaxis and deep debridement is required to get the best results. Costings for all these treatments vary depending on the quality of services provided. Regards
