About Milrinone

Milrinone is a vasodilator. It is given to patients who have a history of heart failure. This medication works by widening the blood vessels and allows for a smoother and easier flow of blood in the body.

On using this medication you may experience side effects such as ventricular ectopy, non-sustained ventricular tachycardia, supraventricular arrhythmias, hypotension, dizziness, headache, bronchospasm and skin rash.

Avoid using this medication:

  • if you have severe heart or kidney diseases

    This medication works by preventing phosphodiesterase. As a result, an enhancement in erythrocyte cAMP activity takes place. Therefore, the erythrocyte membrane can defend deformity more effectively. It also reduces the viscosity of blood by accelerating fibrinolytic activity and decreasing plasma fibrinogen concentrations.
