Iopromide
About Iopromide
Iopromide is commonly administered for the purpose of radiography, CT scans or X-Ray. It is used to increase the contrast of structure and fluids present in the body for the purpose of medical imaging. Administered by intravascular procedures, it has a low osmotic concentration and temporarily makes the blood vessels in the path of its flow opaque. This helps in better radiographic imaging of the internal structures in the body.
Iopromide stays in the body for a day at most and is excreted out from the body through urine. It can cause possible side effects like headache, altered taste, nausea, infusion site reaction, abnormal vision, decreased blood pressure, frequent urge to urinate, etc. These side effects happen rarely and are not the only ones that can occur. Based on your medical condition like pregnancy, kidney problems, blood clotting problems, etc. other side effects may also happen. Side effects have a possibility of occurrence even in the case where you are suffering from any preexisting diseases like sickle cell disease, hay fever, hyperthyroidism, etc.Iopromide interacts with other drugs like Metformin, Tyropanoate Sodium, etc. and can lead to complications if not taken as per prescription. Therefore, it is recommended to consult a doctor prior to taking the drug
