Menopause - What Should You Know?

Good morning, I am Dr. Tripti Raheja, I am a Senior Consultant, Gynecologist and Obstetrician. So, aaj hum discuss karne wale hai menopause aur uss se hone wali samasyao ke baare mein. Menopause ek mahila ki life mein takreeban 50 saal ki umar mein aata hai aur ye ek natural prakriya hai jis se ovary mein eggs khatam ho jaane ki wajah se ovulation ka process ruk jaata hai. Aur ovulation process rukne se blood mein estrogen hormones ki kami aa jaati hai. Estrogen hormones ki kami ki wajah se menstrual period hona stop ho jata hai, permanently stop ho jata hai. Aur estrogen ki kami ki wajah se menstruation stop hone ke alawa aur bhi kai samsayein shareer mein aani shuru ho jati hai. Jaise ki sabse pahli samsya jo mostly mahilaien face karti hai vo hai hot flashes. Ek sudden feeling of heat aati hai jis se ki bahut tezi se garmi lagti hai, mostly night ke samay sote huve hota hai ye, aur suddenly bahut pasina aa jata hai aur bahut hi uncomfortable ek mahila mahsoos karti hai. Iske alawa vagina ki dryness, painful intercourse bhi menopause ke baad kaafi common hai. Because estrogen hormone urine bladder ke aas paas ke tissues ki strength ke liye important hota hai, estrogen ki kami se vo tissue weak ho jata hai, uske weak hone ki wajah se urine leakage ki samsya kaafi commonly aane lagti hai. Jaise ki suddenly hasne pe, khansne pe, urine bladder weak hone se, urine leak kar jaata hai. So these are very common symptoms, iske alawa mood changes, depression, irritability, anxiety, sudden weight gain ye problems hai jo menopause hone ke baad commonly dekhne ko milti hai. Then there are certain serious health issues also jo ki menopause hone ke baad dikhayi dete hai, jaise ki, haddiyo mein calcium ki kami hona shuru ho jaata hai, jise hum osteoporosis bolte hai. Aur osteoporosis ki wajah se bones bahut weak ho jaate hai aur jara se chot lagne par bhi bones pe fracture hone ka risk badh jaata hai. Then heart attack aur stroke ka risk menopause hone ke baad kaafi badh jata hai. Then there are certain cancers jinka ki risk menopause hone ke baad kaafi badh jata hai.

So, inn samsyao ko hum bahut simple life style changes se kaafi had tak control kar sakte hai, jaise ki, suppose aap hot flashes se pareshan hai toh aap apni bed sheets kaafi light colour ki use karna start kar dijiye, aap kapde bilkul light colours ke pahan na shuru kar dijiye. Do ya teen layers mein kapde pahn na shuru kar dijiye jis se ki suddenly aapko garmi ka ahsas ho, suddenly sweating ho toh aap ek adh layer utar payein. Then thanda paani apne aas paas rakhiye so that suddenly agar apko garmi lag rahi ho toh you can have some water and relax. And agar bahut pareshani hai, agar bahut jyada hot flashes se pareshan hai toh harmones replacement therapy bhi dete hai hum log patients ki certain parameters check karke. Aur usme mein estrogen hormone supplement dete hai, jisse ki hot flashes cure ho jaate hai for the time being. Aur otherwise agar hum koi treatment na le toh bhi kuch salo ke andar ye apne aap thik ho jaate hai. Second ek jo bahut hi common samsya hai vo hai vagina ki dryness and painful intercourse ki. So usko handle karne ke liye you can use koi bhi lubricating jellies, easily milti hai market mein, vo aap log use kar skte hai, ya fir doctor ki salah se koi bhi estrogen cream ka istemal kar sakte hai locally lagane ke liye. So once in a week agar aap estrogen cream vagina mein regular lagate rahenge toh dryness ki problem se aap bache rahenge.

Then third bahut common problem hai, urinary leakage ki, because bladder pe control utna achcha nahi rahta hai. So thoda bhi agar pressure badha pet ka, haste huve ya khaste huve toh urine leak ho jata hai. So iss problem ko handle karne ke liye bhi apko thode changes karne hai, jaise ki ek regular interval pe urine pass karne ki aadat daal lijiye, har 2 se 3 ghante mein aap urine paas karein, adequate quantity mein aap paani lein, spicy aur oily food na le, uss se aapka bladder irritate nahi hoga. Then ek bahut is important cheez hai, vo hai kegel exercise ki, ye jo problem hai bladder ki, muscles ki weakness ki wajah se hoti hai mostly. So unko strong karne ke liye agar aap regular kegel exercise karti rahengi, iss area ki muscle strong rahengi toh iss problem se aap kaafi had tak bachi rahengi. Then haddiyo mein calcium ka loss estrogen ke kami ki wajah se menopause ke baad bahut jaldi pahle ek do saal mein hone lagta hai, jis se ki bones kaafi weak ho jaati hai aur suddenly fracture kar jaati hai. So iss se bachne ke liye aap regularly calcium aur vitamin D ke supplements lete rahiye. It is very important ki menopause ke baad aap regular basis pe calcium lete rahiye aur regular exercise kijiye, weight-bearing exercise karna jaroori hai jaise ki brisk walking aur jogging, atleast aadha ghanta regularly apko exercises karni hai jis se ki aapke bones strong bane rahenge. Apne bones ki health ka dhyan rakhiye aur regular intervals pe apna Dexa scan karate rahiye. Dexa scan se apko idea rahega ki aapki bones kahi weak toh nahi ho rahi hai aur fracture risk kitna hai. So agar apke bones weak ho rahe hai, fracture risk high hai, so in that case we can give you certain medicines, hormone replacement therapy de sakte hai, jis se ki apki bones strong rahe.

Then apne heart ko protect karne ke liye bahut important hai ki aap ek achchi healthy diet le, apni diet mein aap green vegetables and fruits ki quantity ko kaafi badhayein. Fast food na lein, oily food, refined sugar ka intake kam karein, regular exercise karein aur apna blood pressure, cholesterol aur sugar, ye teeno bilkul control mein rakhein. Apne wajan ko control mein rakhein. Agar aap overweight honge toh aapko heart attack aur stroke ka risk kaafi jyada hai. Iske alawa kuch cancers hai jo menopause ke baad bahut common hai. Jaise ki, breast ka cancer, uterus ka cancer, uterus ke mouth ka cancer, jise hum cervical cancer kahte hai. So inse bachav ke liye aap apna regular health check-up karwate rahein. Regular interval pe aap apna PAP smear, mammography karwate rahiye. Jisse ki agar koi bhi changes aa rahe hai, vo bahut early stage mein pata chal jaye aur uska aasani se treatment ho paye.
