Glaucoma is a medical condition that generally affects eye health. It harms your visual nerves due to increased pressure brought on by a variety of physical and emotional issues. It is commonly seen in old age or adults as prolonged pressure on optic nerves makes them weak, resulting in glaucoma.

There is no specific sign that can help you detect the presence of glaucoma. Weakness in your vision as you grow older is the only one. This is a common sign that most adults in old age face, so it is important to have regular checkups. If not detected on time, it can result in complete blindness which cannot be recovered.

Any form of glaucoma can be prevented or slowed down if taken care of. Here are some preventive methods and home remedies that can help you live a glaucoma free life -

Preventive Measures -

  • Get regular checkups, it ensures early detection of any eye-related problem.

  • Have acquired knowledge about family medical history. If any of your close relatives have the same problem, then there is a possibility that you might also have to face the same issue.

  • Practice exercise that helps you lower the eye pressure. Take optimum rest and take a break from the gazing screen.

  • Take your medication on time. Strictly follow your routine of eye drops and other medications.

  • Keep your eyes protected, wear safety glasses as per your routine to eliminate any chance of injury and eye pressure.

Home Remedies For Glaucoma -

Home remedies can be one of the easiest yet powerful tools to control or manage your glaucoma. Here are some of the things that you can do to lower down your nerve pressure -

  • Add vitamins like E, A and C to your diet. Vitamin A is essential for the proper functioning of your eyes and Vitamin C and E keep your immunity strong and strengthen your eyes from external infections and free radicals.

  • Adding elements like iron, zinc, and selenium will be beneficial for your eye health.

  • Limit the consumption of caffeine or any other product that increases your blood pressure.

  • Sleep with your head up. Keep your head at least 20 degrees up from the mattress to provide comfort.

  • Dehydration is one of the most prevalent causes of medical issues like this, so stay hydrated. Keep drinking water and other forms of healthy liquid to keep the water going.
