Blurry vision is a condition in which the person is unable to focus on his vision which makes it very difficult for him to observe and recognise fine details and to see clearly you will then have to squint. As you grow old or you have certain other health problems your eyesight will begin to become weak and blurry. Sometimes when you wake up you may experience this condition of blurry vision and when you are sitting in front of a television, table or laptop for a long period of time you will experience the same.

When you are experiencing this problem you can help yourself by following some natural and home remedies, that will not include the application of glasses or other medical treatments.

When the problem becomes severe or the home remedies do not prove to be helpful then you should consult with your doctor and then he will provide the medical assistance as required.

Causes of blurry vision

  • Dry eyes
  • Strain on the eyes due to prolonged screen time
  • Allergies
  • Cold weather
  • Corneal abrasion

Natural treatment for blurry vision

Treatments which are of natural occurrence and are known to cure blurry vision or improve the situation significantly and some of those natural remedies are mentioned below:

  • Rest is the key for proper recovery: The human eyes are very sensitive so they require the same amount of rest as the other body parts of the body, so it becomes really important for a person to give complete rest to their eyes and sleep properly. You should have a fixed and balanced time interval for everything you do and provide rest for your eyes. To give your eye the perfect rest and conditioning which they deserve, you can follow the 20-20-20 rule which states that you need to look at an object which is at least 20 feet away for a time period of 20 seconds on every time interval of 20 minutes.
  • The eyes have to be lubricated: You can have blurry vision due to the dryness in your eyes which can be improved significantly with the activation and stimulation of the oil glands or meibomian present in the eyelids. This stimulation of the oil glands can be achieved by the application of artificial tear which is available in the medical store or you can purchase it online as well and they are useful, by keeping the eyes lubricated and keeping the eyes away from straining by not letting the eyes to dry. You can also opt for another option in which you have to blink for a number of times or you can gently massage your eyes with a warm compress and this procedure also helps to reduce or completely remove the blurriness present in the eyes.
  • Quit or stop smoking: You will have to reduce the frequency of the times that you smoke or you should try to avoid smoking completely as smoking plays a major role as a causative factor for so many eye diseases like cataracts or AMD as this is known to damage or harm the optic nerve significantly. Smoking is also responsible for the irritation which is caused in the eyes.
  • Improvement in the quality of the air which you are surrounded by: The quality of the air plays a vital role for the conditioning of various body parts including the eyes as well. When you are living in a dry air environment your eyes are prone to become dry and to get rid from such situations you will be having to install a humidifier in your room to condition the air and make it humid which will in turn help your eyes to remain wet and well lubricated. You should also keep one thing in mind that you should never get the air blowing directly on to your face especially during the night time.
  • Avoid allergens: For the treatment and prevention of allergies you should recognise your allergens and then you should try to stay away from them as far as possible. When the allergens which are causing the discomfort are from outside then, you should take all necessary precautions which are to close all the windows so that no outside allergen could enter the room and an air conditioner should be used which helps you to filter the allergens out. These strategies may or may not work and in such situations you will have to take eye drops which are known to have antihistamine properties and the occurrence of this drop is natural and it provides a soothing effect to the eyes. These drops can be bought over the counter or in other cases you will have to require a prescription for buying this.
  • Increase the intake of vitamin A: A diet which does not have enough constitution of Vitamin A in it will surely make a person prone to various eye problems or vision disorders which also includes blurry vision. Vitamin A is consumed in two different forms which can be:
  • Retinol and retinyl esters: These substances are found in animal products which can be fish, liver or dairy.
  • Provitamin A carotenoids: These substances are found naturally which means they are plant based food and they can be obtained from sources like:
  1. Butternut squash
  2. Carrots
  3. Kale
  4. Spinach
  5. Sweet potatoes
  6. Red peppers

Blood having high concentrations of provitamin A carotenoids will lower the risk of vision disorders like AMD significantly but you should be aware of the recommended daily allowance (RDA) for the amount to be taken of vitamin A which is 900 mcg for men and in case of women it goes upto 700 mcg. As a matter of fact, vitamin A reduces the risk of AMD and other eye or vision disorders but you should be taking any kind of supplements with complete care and caution. Vitamin A is categorized as a vitamin which is fat soluble which states that this can accumulate in abnormal amounts over the course of time as this substance is ought to get stored in the body and this will have some harmful and dangerous side effects on the body of the consumer.

Conclusion

The condition of blurry vision is going to get worse as soon as you start to experience this problem. The treatment completely depends upon the causative factor of the problem but when the problem is small you can try to improve or cure the problem on your own without any kind of help or support from medical treatment or glasses, through home remedies (natural ways). But you should keep all the precautions, allergies, side effects and other important aspects in mind and consult with your doctor about the substance that you are going to take.
