Gout is considered as a medical condition which is chronic, in this case there is a chronic inflammation which is embarked by the deposition and crystallization of uric acid in various joints and tissues. The most common area where this medical condition occurs is the large toe but this condition is known to happen or occur in other joints as well. For various inflammatory conditions which include gout as well, it is observed that your diet plays an important role in the cause or relief of such conditions. When you intervene your diet with a proper plan you could be able to reduce the amount of uric acid in your blood and this will diminish the painful flare ups.

One of the most commonly used diet intervention products for gout is celery, you can use various parts of celery such as its seed and juice which are generally brought under application for the treatment of gout and are very easily available at health food shops and at grocery stores as well. There is so much scientific information and proofs available that various celery compounds have been found to be very beneficial for the treatment of gout. The proper dosage, benefits and side effects are to be kept in mind before you start consuming various parts of celery for the treatment of your medical problem of gout.

Celery (Apium graveolens) is found to have so many plant compounds which are very beneficial and these compounds are primarily found in the seeds of the plant of celery and the most useful and widely produced compounds by celery plant are said to be:

  • beta selinene
  • luteolin
  • 3-n-butylphthalide (3nB)

Researches and studies have found that these compounds are very helpful in limiting the production of uric acid and affects inflammation as well and these are the conditions which are said to be the driving force of the severity of this medical condition of gout and the corresponding attacks of it.

In other studies, this is found when luteolin affects the production and monitors the amount of the nitric oxide which is produced from the uric acid. Nitric oxide is a very important chemical compound in our body but its enhanced amount could lead a person to experience oxidative stress or suffer inflammation in various parts of the body. Luteolin which is produced from the seeds of celery seeds helps in the reduction of the amount of nitric oxide produced from uric acid, thus, luteolin is helping or providing immunity to a person to stay away from the inflammation that is induced by the uric acid (which is the ultimate cause of gout), but these are to be supported by scientific facts and proofs. Luteolin falls under the category of flavonoid which is found to be directly affecting or reducing the production of uric acid in the body and further, it is found that luteolin is one among the flavonoids that inhibit the production of a chemical enzyme which is xanthine oxidase, this enzyme is found in the purine pathway which is responsible for the production of the byproduct of uric acid. When luteolin helps in the reduction of uric acid levels then you might experience very less frequent flare ups of gout.

3-n-butylphthalide (3nB) is a different compound found in the seeds of celery plants that is also very helpful in relieving a person from the inflammation caused by gout. It is found that cells which are exposed to 3nB have reduced the pro-inflammatory pathways and oxidative stress as well, thus, indicating that the seeds of celery are very helpful in the reduction of the inflammation caused by the medical condition of gout.

The antioxidative properties of beta selinene are examined continuously and it has proved that it has anti-inflammatory properties as well.

There are certain other compounds present in celery plants or seeds as well which are having anti-oxidative or anti-inflammatory properties. These properties make this celery plant very helpful and beneficial in the reduction of the inflammation caused by the condition of gout.

Conclusion

The seeds of the celery plant are composed of so many different chemical compounds which are very beneficial in the treatment of the medical ailment of gout. The chemical compound luteolin helps in the reduction of the level of the uric acid and the production of the amount of nitric oxide which is responsible for inflammation and 3-n-butylphthalide (3nB) and beta selinene is found to have anti-inflammatory and antioxidative properties. These chemical compounds found in celery seeds are very beneficial and could help the person to reduce the frequency and severity of the attacks of gout which are usually very painful.

There are various celery seed supplements available in the market that you should try out but if you start to experience any kind of issue or.painful symptoms then you should immediately consult with your health provider and opt for other treatments options for the medical condition of gout.
