What are skin tags?

Skin tags are soft fleshy growths that hang from the skin. Their medical term is Acrochordons, and they are not cancerous. They are considered a cosmetic concern and not a medical issue. They usually do not cause any pain or discomfort but people having them find them unsightly and want to get them removed. Skin tags are in the form of small growths or flaps of tissue, and they stick out from the surface of the skin. The tags usually match the color of surrounding skin. Skin tags are usually tiny but if they are growing larger, take doctor s recommendation on how to have them treated.

Castor oil has been a medicine cabinet staple for decades in people s homes. Castor oil along with baking soda helps to get rid of a skin tag safely and effectively. Applying tea tree oil is also known to be very effective in treatment and removal of skin tags. Mix 2 parts of castor oil with 1 part baking soda and apply to the skin tag. Cover it with a papaya peel and secure with a bandage. Leave it overnight and rinse off in the morning. Do this regularly till the tag falls off.

They are cryotherapy which makes use of the application of liquid nitrogen compound, cauterization which is done by burning off the skin tag, tying a string which makes use of a sterile string to cut off blood supply from the skin tag, and laser removal. Never try these procedures at home since they require professional techniques and skills. Receive treatment from only experienced professionals.

Apple cider vinegar is known for having antibacterial and antifungal properties, and it also balances pH levels in the skin. It has been used for generation in skin care and treats skin tags, warts, eczema and acne effectively. Soak a sterile cotton ball in apple cider vinegar and place it over the skin tag with a bandage for 20 minutes once at night and day, every day.

If they occur, it is advised to treat them with certain home remedies early on since it will prevent the condition for getting severe. This will save you both time and money since medical insurance does not cover it as it is considered a cosmetic issue. Fortunately, its chances of reoccurring at the same place are very rare once removed. Avoid wearing clothes that are tight or made of a rough material in general and especially when you have a skin tag since they may cause irritation and pull on the skin tag causing a blood clot.
