That cancer is a death sentence is a myth though many people tend to think it's true. The truth is that cancer is usually detected at a stage when it is not treatable anymore. This is why regular health checkups and screenings are necessary for the diagnosis of cancer at the right stage so that it becomes possible to cure.

An X-ray machine is linked to a computer and it takes a series of detailed pictures of the organs. A contrast material is provided to highlight certain areas of the body and it makes the scans easier to read. It is one of the most effective methods to detect cancerous cells.

An endoscope is a thin, lighted tube that is inserted into the body through a natural opening like a mouth. The doctor then uses a special tool to extract tissue or cells through the tube.

Unfortunately, this myth is so prevalent that many people decide to not go under the knife and deprive himself/herself of a life-saving treatment. Surgery is a very intricate procedure and a surgeon is especially trained to perform such tasks where the margin of error is zero. It is not a layman but an individual with special training in that category who is going to operate so it is usually highly unlikely for a surgery to go wrong.
