Expert Advice
- Consume propranolol daily at a fixed time. Don’t discontinue the doses suddenly or don’t skip it as it might worsen the condition. Consume the missed dose as soon as possible and take the next dose within less than 4 hours. Avoid driving or performing the activities which require alertness as the medicine might cause dizziness initially. Avoid alcohol intake when you are on the treatment. Take precaution while getting up to void falling. Keep a check on your blood pressure and consult your doctor if you find no improvement within one week. Avoid the usage of this medicine if you are allergic to propranolol hydrochloride or any other ingredient present in the medicine.
How it works?
- Propranolol belongs to a group of drugs called beta blockers which blocks the action of certain natural chemicals in the body like epinephrine that affect the heart and blood vessels. This effect decreases heart rate, blood pressure and the strain on the heart.

Dear lybrate-user,
thanks for writing to us. I understand your concern.
Inderal tablet contains propranolol drug which is beta blocker group.
You should take this medicine under medical supervision only.
You take it for anxiety provoking situations. I recommend you to consult psychiatrist for this. There are anti anxiety medications and behavior therapies for anxiety disorders. Propranolol alone cannot cure your illness. Onset: within 1 to 2 hours after oral use.

You may be having plenty of insecurities and fear. Just relax. Ask yourself what bothers you? have a positive self-talk, and learn what are those things you don' t like. You need to accept your self and move on. You need to take care of your lifestyle and learn to be happy. If you cant do it yourself, meet a life coach/ stress management super-specialist. Once you open your heart out, u will feel free and begin to fly in life.

The international guidelines for treatment of panic disorder are ssri's - a group of antidepressants to be taken for 3-6 months as a course. Inderal and zapiz are only palliative or temporary solutions not a cure for panic disorder.
