About Gemvert 20Mg/40Mg Tablet

This is a combination medication which has Cinnarizine and Dimenhydrinate as active ingredients. It a type of anti-histamine drug. This medication is used to treat balance disorders such as in Ménière's disease, including vertigo, ringing in the ears, nausea, and vomiting. Benefits of being on this drug also include relief from, or prevention of, the symptoms of travel sickness.

This medication should be used with caution in the elderly, women who are pregnant or who are breastfeeding, patients with liver or kidney problems, Parkinson's disease or a blood disorder called acute porphyria. It should not be used in people who are allergic to this drug or any other ingredient in it.

      Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next scheduled dose then the missed dose can be skipped.

    How does this medication work?

    This medication works by preventing the relay of repetitive messages from the nerves in the inner ears to the vomiting center in the brain. Dimenhydrinate is an over-the-counter drug that prevents motion sickness. It also has antimuscarinic effect but is mainly a H1-antagonist. It mainly functions by preventing the stimulation of vestibule and labyrinth thereby suppressing vertigo, vomiting, dizziness and nausea during linear or angular acceleration motions.

      Whenever you take more than one medicine, or mix it with certain foods or beverages, you"re at risk of a drug interaction.

        Ethanol

        Avoid or limit the uptake of alcohol while using this medication. It is advised to refrain from driving a vehicle or operating a heavy machinery while taking this medicine.

        Skin sensitivity test

        Report the use of this medicine to the doctor before a skin sensitivity test. This medication may interfere with the procedure and may give false-negative results. Use of this medicine should stop at least 4 days before the test is conducted.

        This medication is not recommended for use if you have a genetic disorder of the blood and skin (Porphyria). The risk of adverse effects are significantly high and hence your doctor may suggest a suitable alternative.
